STRADA AND GOODRICH WEEKEND CRSA SPRINT WINNERS AT PENN CAN AND FIVE MILE POINT

Oneonta, NY…The CRSA Sprint Car Tour made its return to the southern tier New York area for two weekend events at the Penn Can Speedway in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania Friday and Five Mile Point in Kirkwood, New York Saturday. A strong field of cars again supported the popular CRSA Tour with third generation driver Eddie Strada of Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania picking up the win in dominate fashion at Penn Can Friday with six time series winner Scott Goodrich of Middletown, New York winning at Five Mile Point Saturday.

The twenty five lap Penn Can Speedway sprint feature got off to a rocky start with two early cautions delaying the start of the twenty five lap event. Once racing got started Strada took off from his fourth starting position to move to the front past early leader Mike Esposito. Once out front Strada moved away with the battle for the other top five position changing lap after lap. Brian Krummel had his hands full protesting his position from the challenges of Mike Esposito, making a rare CRSA start, Dalton Herrick, and Chad Miller. At the halfway point Strada continued to increase his lead while Esposito moved by Krummel for the second spot. Miller, Herrick, and Kyle Smith were close behind. With laps winding down without any further cautions, Strada cruised to his first ever CRSA win in only his second start in a full sized sprint car. Brian Krummel, Mike Esposito, Chad Miller, and Dalton Herrick rounded out the top five.

Saturday night another stellar field of CRSA Sprints came to the Five Mile Point Speedway making their third appearance of the season. The wide quarter mile provided for great two and three wide action during the early qualifying heat races and feature. Once the twenty two car field lined for the main event the front row of Scott Goodrich and Brett Jaycox took off racing side by side for the first three circuits. Caution flew on lap three for a large tangle in turn two with three cars going over bringing out the red flag. All drivers were uninjured. Once racing resumed, the action would be nonstop to the checker. Goodrich stayed out front with Josh Pieniazek, Jaycox, Tom Radivoy, and Chad Miller battling for position with Mike Kiser moving from deep in the pack into the top ten. Goodrich kept his car steady over the last ten laps moving in and out of lapped traffic while the positions in the top five change lap after lap. Goodrich would come home the winner for the sixth time this season followed across the line by Pieniazek, Jaycox, Radivoy, and Kiser.

SPRINT NOTES: Eddie Strada is a third generation driver with his father and grandfather winning many modified features at the Penn Can Speedway and old Moc-A-Tec Speedway. Strada is coming off a huge win in the Northeast Small Car Classic at Penn Can in the 600 micro sprints. Goodrich leads all CRSA drivers in wins this season with six. He won the June CRSA race at Five Mile Point. Ed Newhauser had a weekend to forget after being on his side at both races. After Friday’s night of racing Josh Pieniazek was leading the points over Kyle Smith and Dalton Herrick. Scott Goodrich has the lead in the Southern Tier Challenge races over Kyle Smith and Josh Pieniazek. The Tour returns to action at I-88 Speedway for a rare mid-week race Tuesday for the Earl Halaquist Memorial.
